breeding a parti-pom

Question
We have a black and white parti pom and are looking at two possible females.  One is a black and white parti like our own, the other is a wolf sable.  Do you know what the chances are of having parti-colored babies from two parti parents or what colors we might expect from the black and white with the wolf sable?  I realize not knowing the lineage of the parents may make this just a guess, but if you have any idea I would appreciate your opinion.

Answer
Hi Rhonda,

I am forwarding a previous response I gave to someone who asked for breeding advice:

Breeding dogs should be done by those who are trying to improve the breed and produce quality puppies by following the breed standard, usually show breeders.

Why do you want to breed your dog?  Usually backyard breeders are only interested in making money and to be perfectly honest, you usually can't make much money.  In fact, it can end up costing you money!  Dogs are not
a commodity to be sold on the open market.  The newspaper is filled week after week with lots puppies for sale. Most of them are poorly bred.  Dogs are living beings that think and feel and are dependent on people for their care.  Many backyard breeders produce dogs that have one or more of the following problems:  they barely resemble the breed, unhealthy, behavioral problems including being hyper and/or aggressive.  Many of these dogs end up in shelters and are euthanized.  Or worse, dumped.  I have seem many dogs and cats dumped in my city and my neighborhood.  How 'bout you?  I have had to call the shelter many times.  I've brought animals to the shelter that had came to my house.  I can't keep them and being put to death is better than suffering (roaming around scared, looking for food, water, and someone to help them).  It is pitiful.  Millions of dogs every year are put to death in this country because there are not enough homes for them all!  :(

I know this response may sound harsh but I only write this because I care so much about dogs.  They are a blessing from God but are often treated like a money-making disposable product in this country.  I receive LOTS of
questions regarding dogs and puppies that have problems due to poor breeding.  Most people think that if a dog is AKC registered it is a typey, healthy, dog.  But unfortunely, this isn't the case.

I pray that you and anyone else who reads this will reconsider breeding. Please have your dogs sprayed and neutered.

Best Regards,
Carrie
