trying to breed

Question
Hi, my name is faith, and i own 2 poms, a boy named coco and a girl named lil bit. Lil bit is in her second heat this year(currently bleeding-which week is best?) and weve decided to breed her. I was wondering if it is difficult to get them to breed (lil bit will sit down whenever coco even walks behind her) and how long she will be pregnant. I also read that you say there is a chance that she wont take care of the pups, but how common is that? Any additional info would be appreciated, and thank you for your time!

Answer
Hi Faith,

Please reconsider breeding them.  MILLIONS of dogs are put to death every year in this country because there are not enough homes for all of them.  :(  Breeding should only be done by show breeders trying to improve the breed by following the breed standard.  I pray that you will have your male neutered ASAP and your female as soon as she goes out of heat.
