Black POM with Possible BSD

Question
About two months ago I noticed that Cooper, my pom who is about 18 months old, was starting to lose the fur on his face. He does a lot of digging when he is out side and rough housing with our golden retreiver Max so I just attributed the hair loss to that. Since that time he has nearly lost all of the fur on his head and ears and is starting to lose it on the middle of his back.We have had him into the vet a week or two ago and the skin sample tests were negative for mites. Tonight he is acting as though he is in a lot of pain and is crying when touched or moved. We've called our vet and made arrangements to take him in tomorrow morning. I am just wondering if these symptoms are related to BSD or other genetic heath disorders I have read about.
Kind Regards,
Erin Jackson

Answer
Like you I have read about BSD and have talked to other breeders about it but none have ever mentioned that the Poms have any pain with it.  There is something more with
your boy than just hair loss.
Your vet with tests should be able to diagnois his problem.
Just make sure he is on a good quality dog food just in case he has allergies.
But even allergies does not cause pain.
