I have a shih tzu.  She recently just had her first litter of pups.  I have 2 questions--when all the pups from the litter are gone how long will she be in mourning for her pups?  #2  Say six months down the road she is reunited with a pup.  Will they recognize each other?  Thank you

Hello!  I apologize for taking so long to answer, but I wasn't sure what to tell you.  Now I've researched it just a bit.  From what I understand, most dogs don't mourn for their pups once they are gone.  From my experience, they didn't know the difference.  Also, as far as I know, when a pup reunites with the mother, they acted like they didn't know each other.  Most experts say they are suppose to recognize each other though.
