QuestionI have two 8 mnth old males, both have been neutered. They are both from the same litter. The white parti/pom with red, has longer softer hair and the other is chocolate w/white chest and feet, and his hair is shorter and has a thicker undercoat. I keep them brushed and clean, and have not noticed much hair loss. I heard that poms are big shedders, should I expect them to eventually start shedding allot and if so, when and what can I do to keep the shedding down? Thank you, Ann
AnswerMost males will not shed coat like females that shed everytime they come into heat cycles. Poms males usually shed every 6 months and that includes their under coat.
Expect them to shed heavily going into the hot weather months. Bath them and get a metal grooming rake and take
out the undercoat all the way to the skin. This coat will
not come out until it is dead and ready to be removed.
