Question
We have started traveling in our R.V. months at a time and our Pom needs some matainace grooming until we can get her back to our regular groomer. Can you give me some ideas on how to clip her and keep up? She is a sweet dog and does mind brushing or grooming.  She loves people and loves all the attention she gets as we travel. We have even taken her to th hospitial to visit with the elderly. She is an out going dog but not hyper as some tend to be. We sure want to keep her comfortable and groomed as we travel.
What do you feed your Poms?
Thank you
Shirley Fredette

Answer
Hi Shirley,

Trim the hair around the feet to keep them looking neat.  (It makes the feet look cat-like.)  Also, trim hair around the tip of ear (be careful) to give ears a rounded look.  Finally, trim hair around backend.  This keeps the dog cleaner and looks neater.  Bath approximately once a month.  That should do it!

I have feed my pom Solid Gold, Natural Balance, Spot's Stew, Chicken Soup for the Soul, PetGuard, Wellness, Canidae, NRG Canine Blend and Neura Meats. I may get him Dr. Havery's, The Honest Kitchen, Monzie's Organic Muesli, Noah's Kindom, Happy dog, or Sojourner Farms next. These are human grade dehydrated foods.  With most of them you must add fresh meat and veggies.  I also feed my dog fresh food: chicken, beef, fish, cottage cheese, yogurt, brown rice, grains, cheese, veggies, and fruit. I never feed him junk food like hot dogs, anything with added sugar, etc.  Variety is important and I recommend a human grade dog food.  Dehydrated foods and canned foods are better than kibble.  Fresh food is the best.

Best Regards,
Carrie
