pom puppy drinking water problem

Question
Hello Ms. Rosenbaum
I have an 11 week old male pom I obtained from a respectable breeder when he was 9 weeks old who is a very fast learner and is already housebroken and able to follow some commands.  However, he seems to enjoy digging in his water bowl and splashing the water all over the floor no matter how many times we yell No! at him.  I don't want to leave his water bowl empty so I keep refilling it after he splashes all of the water out of the bowl but he continues to dig into the water bowl and knocks all of his drinking water out.  How do we stop this behavior and why is he doing it in the first place?  Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much,
Summer

Answer
THis is typical of a healthy puppy.  Mine do the same thing.   I had to buy a hand made crock with an inside
ridge of about 1 inch to stop them from playing in the
water.

You should be able to purchase this from a store that
has rabbit supplies.

I know some of the pet supply companies have the plastic
water bowls with the ridge but my pups would pick it up
and empty it on the floor.  They do grow out of this
problem if that is any consultation.
