Pomeranian weight

Question
I have a pomeranian male who is approximately 9 lbs and is a 5 year old adult.  I love my dog way to much and I've been reading general stuff about then and it says that poms usually weight between 3-7 pounds.  My dog weighs 9.  He eats twice a day (1/4 cup each time) and is active around the house.  I don't now if he should go on a diet.

Answer
Nope. :o) Your Pom is probably just a bit bigger than the standard.  He is one we just wouldn't breed due to his size.

The breeder is the builder, the standard is the blue print, the judge is the inspector.

Poms were bred down from arctic sled dogs to the 3-7 lb companion dog they are today.  Occasionally, through genetics fromt he past we get Poms outrsdie the standard.  Those are ones that knowledgable and responsible breeders do not breed so they don't perpetuate that size but they do occasionally pop up.
