What type of collar to use??

Question
Hi, I have a question about my sable Lulu. She is almost 6 months old now (thanks for the last advice, you were right!) and I'm working with training her. She and my Jack Russell run and play in my yard all the time. The problem is we can't go for walks yet because every collar we've tried so far doesn't work. She chokes herself and starts honking with a nylon choke or regular dog collar. She can't help but pull with a harness. The head collar she figures out how to get it off everytime and about snaps her neck trying to do it. So before I spend more on more collars I'd thought I'd ask you.

She is much, much, much calmer than she was at 10 weeks but she's still a busy little happy doggy and gets so excited when put on a leash. Very smart too. What about the nylon covered chokes with the triangle? Or a no pull harness? Thanks for your help!

Chris

Answer
I am so glad you are happy with her! :)

Now about the collar... NEVER NEVER NEVER use collars (choke or otherwise) on Poms.  Only use harnesses that are well made-not figure 8 harness, they put a strain on the throat the same as collars do and can injure the trachea.  Get a quality harness from the pet store and make sure it is adjustable so it can grow with her.  She will probably fill out a bit more but is near close to being done growing.

There are also links to the catalogs I order out of off my links page.
Best of luck!
