Hiding Food

Dear Trish,

My four and a half month old Pom recently started hiding pieces of food around the house.  He hides them next to walls or tables where we can see them..It is so funny, but is getting old since I am stepping on pieces.  He eats twice a day and a normal amount..Why is he doing this?

This is very normal and not something you can easily teach them not to do. She is hiding it for later or to make sure someone else doesn't get it.  It is her instinct to "bury" food/treats and set it aside for when there are lean times.
