Question
Hello Mary,
I'm looking into adopting a Pomeranian who is 6-7 years old. The current owner thinks she was abandoned by breeders, and she is pigeon-toed and bowlegged, probably as result of being kept in a pen. Do you think this will affect her greatly later in life? The woman also said they had her teeth cleaned and she lost 8 teeth because they were not properly taken care of - and that they are notorious for having bad teeth.  I am not interested in having a show dog or anythign obviously, I am just concered about the dog's future health.

Answer
No I think if you take good care of her now and feed quality dog food (nothing out of the grocery store)and good
multi vitamins she should live a good life.
The toy breeds are known to have bad teeth if they are not
cared for properly.  Just remember now that she has had her
teeth cleaned you need to take her into your vet at least
twice and year to see if he needs to clean the remaining ones.
