2 week old pomeranians have cough

Question
My wife recently rescued 2 female pomeranians from the SPCA who seized them from a puppy mill. They were supposed to be spayed before coming home but were not because they had kennel cough.2 days before we were supposed to take them in to be fixed, the dogs had puppies. We now have 9 pomeranian puppies. The litter of 4 is two weeks old and they have the cough now.The mother is on Clavamox and a yellow cough tablet given to us by the vet.How long should it take for the puppies to get better? The other 5 puppies to the other mother seem to be doing fine however we are keeping them seperated for right now.

Answer
WOW :o)
Keep them apart.
Kennel cough is very common and is equal to a very bad cold and can turn into pnumonia if not watched carefully.
You can give Robutussin to help calm the cough and you can also use a vapor plug in near the kennel where they sleep to help.  A vaporizer would be a good idea too. :o)
Depends on how quiet they are kept and how healthy they are as to how long it will take to get over it.  Sometimes only a couple weeks, sometimes a few months.  Sometimes you will need to get them on antibiotics to keep a worse sickness at bay.

Two weeks is very small and you may have better luck treat mom with antibiotics and just trying to keep babies warm and quiet.

Best of luck.
