Question
I have a female pom that has already been through one heat.   She is now in her second heat.....She is a beautiful small solid black coat.  Should I try to breed her to another solid black coat...or...a coat of a different color...of course she will be bred to another small pom.

Here are some great links for you to try out-

It may be a lot of reading but well worth it.
Unless you know what is behind her in her pedigree and what is behind him in his pedigree and what you are trying to produce and why; then I cannot answer this for you.  You have to know does either carry genetics for possible problems? Is her pelvic spread wide enough for puppies to pass safely?  There are gobs of questions to ask yourself before you even decide to breed and then to ask yourself about who you deicide to breed to.  Have they both been tested for Brucellosis? It is a STD found in dogs that can make them sterile, cause still births and make them very ill.  Are her parents or his parents larger than they are? Will this cause a problem for her delivering? Did her dam and grand dam free whelp?
Check out all these things first.

Best of luck with your research and decision.
