Question
Hello, My pomeranian, Ava, is 2 1/2 yrs old.  She has never been bred and I don't plan to in the future either.  My question for you is; would there be any health benefits in spaying her at this age or would that just be putting undo stress on her body?  I realize that the sooner you spay the more benefits, but I think she is past the benefit stage...I look forward to hearing from your experience in this matter.
Thank you, Diane

Answer
My vet always tells me that spaying a female keeps the
chances of cancer down and it is a health benefit.

BUT every dog I have spayed reqardless of the breed has gotten over weight and become of less hormones in the system has always had bad coats even with coat suppliments.

I personally do not spay my girls anymore but of course you
don't want to take a chance of any stray breeding your
girl.

Now mind you, this is not what veterinarians recommend.
