Question
We just brought home our little Amber (7 weeks old) very bubbbly, and happy but turns her nose up at the food that was sent home with her. The breeder advised to put cottage cheese in her kibble, since she still needs the nutrients. However, Amber won't eat it.  Today I put a little bit of a scramble egg in her food (no butter). She ate it up!  Now I wonder, if the egg is o.k. for her.
Thanks

Answer
Hi Nanci,

Yes, egg is great.  I recommend a homemade diet.  Feed fresh foods like beef, chicken, fish, cottage cheese, yogurt (without added sugar), cheese, brown rice,
oatmeal, eggs, veggies, fruit, etc. I never feed my pom junk food or anything with refined processed sugar. You will need to do a little research if you want to prepare homemade food.  You can find good books at the library on homemade recipes for dogs. "Dr. Pitcairn's Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs & Cats" and "Barker's Grub" are two excellent books.

If you feed her processed foods, choose human grade such as:  Petguard, Wellness, Innova, or Canidae and add some fresh foods.  (Canned is better than kibble.)  Fresh is the best!

Hope you enjoy your new puppy!  Let me know if you need more help.

Best Regards,
Carrie
