Question
i'd been talking about getting a pomeranian for the longest time and finally my boyfriend did some "research" on the internet and found a breeder who had puppies for sale. not knowing too much about the breed we both were excited to see the little fluffy guy and immediately made him a part of the family. he was a little over 9 weeks old when we brought him home and now at 5 months i'm starting to question if he's pure bred. i was told the basic physical characteristics of poms are the full and fluffy coat, the tiny triangle like ears, and a fluffy tail that is supposed to lay flat against their back and not curl. at nine weeks my pom had a somewhat fluffy coat but now it appears to be flat on his back without the thick undercoat except around his head/chest and his tail which doesn't lay flat against his back but curls up similar to that of a chow. i love him to pieces flat hair and all but am just curious if there's a possibility that he may be mixed because of his chow like tail and non fluffy coat.

Answer
Maybe... where did you buy your Pom and did you see and like the parents? :o)
If you bought froma reputable AKC breeder and you liked the parents then I am sure you got a nice pup.

Most Poms go through a stage where they blow their puppy coat and don't get a full fluffy coat (as long as it is in their genes to be full and fluffy) untill they are about a year old and then they lose it again and it grows back.  They are usually fully coated by the time the are around 2.
