White Pomeranians

Question
I have searching for some time now to find a white pomeranian to purchase as a pet. So far, I've found only 2 breeders, and neither of them are on the East Coast. Why are white poms so rare?

Answer
White Poms are rare because it is not easy to breed them true.  There have been reds and oranges for so long bred into so many lines that many "whites" are actually cream.  And many breeders who sell "whites" are actually selling creams or piebald parti's.  It takes lots of time and money to breed a quality Poms and then even more time and money to breed one of an exotic color.  Often times whites tend to be longer legged, longer muzzled, bigger in size and loose patella's.
Addtionally many many people have to have their pups shipped to them no matter what color in order to get quality simply because a breeder with quality puppies doesn't always have exactly what you want when you want so you have to turn to other breeders across our country to find what you want.
It is very common place, now to ship your pup in.  I have done so on several occasions to get the pup I wanted and I have shipped out all over the country :o)

Often times if a show breeder has a quality white... they keep it and don't offer it for sale becuase of its rarity.

Best of luck with your search.
