Question
Hi Trish,

1)  How long are Pomeranians considered "puppies"?
2)  How long I should keep them on puppy food?
3)  Is rawhide really bad for them as puppies?  4)  I was told that freeze dried liver is bad for them because it processes all the toxins in your body ~ is that true?

Thanks so much for your help!

Answer
1)  How long are Pomeranians considered "puppies"?
depends on the dog :o) Most are grown by a year but as far as coat, you can't expect a full grown adult coat till 2 which should get more and more luxurious up to 3.  Potty training cannot be expected before 6 months old and with much patience.
2)  How long I should keep them on puppy food?
up to 1 year unless they are under 2 lbs.
3)  Is rawhide really bad for them as puppies?
I do not use raw hide anymore as the pieces they swallo can continue to swell in their belly and cause gastro problems.  Bully sticks are great, pig ears with supervision.  Raw duck feet are great-very little chocking hazard and the calcium is good for them.  Raw Knuckle bones are great for teeth.
4)  I was told that freeze dried liver is bad for them because it processes all the toxins in your body ~ is that true?
I do not know this to be true.  raw meat is great for them-hamburger, SMALL cut up peices of beef or chicken.  Raw offal (hearts, kidneys, livers, tripe) or freeze dried seems ok to me...
