excessive biting

Question
I just got a 6wk old pom baby girl that after 2 weeks of been with us started biting excessively. It is painful but I don't know who to let her know biting is not cool. I keep looking at her when she bites us and tell her strongly STOP but off course she doesn't let go and I have to withdraw my hand or finger before it hurts more. I know I'm not supose to scold her, what else I can do while she is young!
Thanks,
Marg

Answer
It is normal for pups to bite.  You will need to teach her early on that she cannot do that or it may get worse.  Check out the archives for answers to most questions you might have about your new pup :o) There are lots.  I have also compiled GOBS of info on my links page about all things Pom.

Feel free to send me a note if you have any other questions.  I would HIGHLY recopmend the Dog Whisperer book.  It has changed the way I work with my own dogs.  It may be very helpful to you.

Best of luck and enjoy your new pup.
