Question
Hi Trish,
We recently purchased a pom for my daughter for her graduation present last year. I do not know much about little dogs as we have had labs and german shepherds our whole life. I never thought I would like an ankle biting dog. But, we fell in love with him and his personality. We also have a 7 year old shepherd in th ehouse and they get along well. My other daughter decided she wanted a pom also since my daughter is going off to college and taking hers. So we decided to get her one. The poms play together all the time. We have had her about a week and today our other pom(who is a male) layed around all day and acted like he did not feel well. He is not up to par. I called the vet and asked him if I could give him some childrens tylenol thinking he has a sore throat or something since he is not barking either. We have been giving him that 2 times today. But, I was thinking maybe he is depressed or jealous about the new dog. Would you know if they get jealous and at like they are depressed. I am not sure about little dogs. Thanks,
Laura Jensen

Answer
Your new pup may have brought home a virus or parasite that has affected your other Pom.  I would take them in for a fecal test and have them checked over. MANY new pups come to new homes with "bugs" You can get TONS of info about all things Pom on my links page- www.geminipoms.com

You will also want to get the biting curbed before it becomes a real problem.

Best of luck.
-Trish
