Question
Hi Trish, I love your website and answers you provide you've helped me a lot with toybreed info so thank you much.  Anyway I have another question for you about my 8 month old pom. As he has gotten older his ear color changed to a slight tinge of red I'm sure the sun dyed them over time.  How do I rid this? Can groomers maybe correct this and if there something I can do myself at home could you give me some advice please?
Also the anti-inflammatory my puppy uses for his loose knee(Rimadyl)I've done research on the drug and read about the side effects and how this drug is not fit with some breeds and can be dangerous.  Can there be other meds he can use that isn't harmful preferably natural?  I also heard about Glusomine.

Answer
It is prob sunburn or maybe just natural hair color change.  You did not mention the natural color of the rest of your dog. :) A groomer cannot make the color go away... maybe just cut off extra hair on the ear.
I do not know enough about Remadyl.  We use glucosime with our older dogs with some success.  It may be a safer alternative. :) You can also ASK your vet about some anti inflamatories or get a different vets second opinion.

Best of luck!
