Puppys Coat changing color?

19 17:16:04

Question
Hi
We bought a 3 month old Parti-Pom in April.  He is black and white, but it seems like his black is starting to resemble a magenta color!  Do these doggies change from Black to Brown?  We would love him any color he is, but it would give me some piece of mind to know that my eyes are not playing tricks.

Answer
They come in a rainbow of colors and can change up through 2 yrs of age.  Many times sables are born almost black and then the sabling (black) fade to where there is only orange/red left with a few black hairs.  It sounds like that is what is happening.  Pups will blow their coats around that age too and lose most of it till about 8 months and then start growing their adult coat in.  That is when you can best tell what color they will be.
You can go to my links page for a ton of info on Poms and you can go to the American Pom Club site for info on Pom colors. ;)
