Piddles when excited/jealous

Dear Carrie:

 We have a five year old pom that has had a prob since bieng a pup.  She is very jealous of other pets in the house and will piddle on us if one of them get up on me.  Also, if we have any company over she gets all excited and wants to be petted, as she is being petted she piddles as she sits.
 Any other time she lets us know if she needs to go outside to go potty.  She will hold it several hours waiting for us to get home. As soon as I get home and greet her at back door she piddles again because she is excited to see me.  HOW CAN I RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM?  She has not been "fixed".  Would this help the situation?

Hi Gail,

I would have her fixed if she was my dog.  It sounds like your pom may have a problem with submissive urination.  Please read more about it at:

If this is not the case, I would consult with your vet to make sure she doesn't have a health problem.
