Out of control Pom

Question
Here's the story. We have a 4 mos old Pom, we're crate training her and it seemed to be going well. Except she still had the odd accident. She used to go on the deck, but we changed her to the grass in the yard. Now she wants to be in the grass constantly. she doesn't give signals anymore about when she wants to go, she just constantly wants to be in the grass. She eats the grass and any weeds she can find. It almost seems like she's training us. She has also taken to barking at 1:00am and this is really wearing thin on us. she seems to want to go out, but when she's out she just wants to play. this is really making us very tired. I would like to know what would be a definitive way of teaching her who the Alpha's are ? aside from really being mean to her. When we put her in her crate, even if it's right next to me laying on the floor, she barks and whines and scratches until she hyperventilates if we let her out, after about an hour of the incessant barking, she seems to be fine. Is this normal behaviour ? We're about at our wits end and we're seriously considering selling her to someone else.  we read everything we can about training and housebreaking. We just don't know what to do anymore. Please help.

Answer
From your email you have confused her changing from the
deck to the yard.  Remember she is just 4 months old and
very much a baby.

Is there anyway you can put her in an exercise pen like
in the garage or utility room and only take her out after
she eats and several times aday till she gets better adjusted?  Try to give her a toy or a rawhide bone at night
to keep her busy and not barking.  Just remember not to give her anything she can chew a piece off and choke to death.

I really think 6 months is the time these guys start to put
it all together.  Have patience...she is just a baby.
