Fearful after grooming

Question
Hello,

I had my 6 year-old female Pom groomed last Thursday.  The groomer completely shaved her (not what I had asked for).  Since that time (and increasing) she has been acting very strangely.  She is shaking and staying in her "house".  When she comes out she holds her tail to one side and runs with her body turned so that her tail isn't in the back anymore.  When she stops she immediately sits down.  I took her to the emergency vet on Saturday and the vet expressed her anal glands but said they were not the problem.  There is nothing visibly wrong with her rectum.

Do you have any idea what might be wrong?

Thanks.

Answer
That is odd behavior.  I would think about getting a new groomer.  She may have gotten very frightened or scolded by them.  I don't know.  She may have also been nipped with the clippers and is hurt or scared.  I would give her more time with consoling.  If your vet says there is nothing physically worng then it could be mental.  I would still keep an eye on the places she is being cautious about as something may be there that you can't see yet.

Give her time and love.

xxoo
