Question
I am trying to find someone to help me with the size of a Pom, We are looking at a puppy that is 11 weeks old and is 1lb 12oz. The mother is 5lbs and the father is 7lbs. The puppie does seam to have the finer bones.  What size do you think this puppy will get?

We already have 2 dog's one is 10lb the other 3 lbs. Also is a Pom a dog that normally bark's or is there no generalization?

I hope you can help.
Thank's
Tracey

Answer
Tracey,
The mother and father are not the only indicator of size. The truth is that they help but the puppy could take after a grandparent or other distant relaitives. Genetic is a complicated matter. It is possible that the puppy will be small, but this is in no way a promise. Your puppy still has some growth sprits to go through.I would say if there is no larger than seven pounds in the puppy family tree. You could get a puppy around 3-5 pounds.

To answer your second questions, Poms are indeed barkers. That one reason the make great watchdogs. They are very loyal and quiet protective of their owner and property. Although there size doesn't allow them to be guard dogs they all but make up for in courage.

I hope all goes well with your new pom. I hope that I have been of some help. Have fun and enjoy our poms, for they are a true blessing from god.
