Question
My wolf Sable Pom is 6 years old.  She has been losing her teeth.  Almost all of her front teeth are gone or loose.  Is this normal for her age?  I have another male pom that is three and his teeth are fine?

Answer
Unless your dog is all grey with some black hair (looks like a Norwegian Elkhound)-then it is not a wolf sable.
Sometimes Poms lose thier teeth due to lack of brushing and regular vet cleanings.  Some lose teeth due to poor breeding and overcrowding in their mouth.  Some lose their teeth due to stool eating which rots them out.  If your dog has loose teeth it needs to be seem by a vet who can clean them and take out the ones that are falling out or rotten and then the dog will have much better health.
Most Poms have SOME teeth well into old age but it is common for some to be falling out by 6-8 yrs old.  The avegare life span for Poms is 12-15 yrs.  Some longer;some not as long but average.
