i was told that female poms get thier period only 2 times a year  and the bleed for weeks on . . .  is this true? thanks :o)

Nothing is always and never :o)
MOST bitches come into season between 6-8 months and some early and many later.  Then they will USUALLY have a cycle (not period) every 6-8 months, some sooner and some later.

If you are not wishing to become a breeder or exhibitor then it will be in her best interest to be spayed.
