QuestionMy French bulldog not yet 1 year old, wheezes like she is not getting enough air. During the winter months she snored a lot which is typical for the breed but the wheezing seems to have gotten worse with all the pollen floating in the air. Can I give her Benedryl? Or is there something more natural? Please help, I feel so bad for her.
AnswerBenadryl Canine dosage
Benadryl for French bulldog; frenchies;
Benadryl for pets / dosages:
Hi Kim - Yes, I have some more natural options than Benadryl- Many vets will refer you to Benadryl for short term usage. ( 1-2 mg per pound of dog, every 6-8 hrs ) **** again, you don't want to use Benadryl too long.... Talk to you vet about this.
NEXT- Yes- Fenchies are very prone to Seasonal Allergies! Oh, Boy....
Here are some things you can do:
1. Add a Dash ( Pinch ) of Garlic powder to at least, 1 meal per day - mix well.
Garlic is a natural antibiotic to keep away the sinus infections. PLUS - helps to keep away the fleas, too! ( don't get Garlic Salt, must be the powder)
2. All my clients take 1 NuVET wafer per day : NuVET is an allergy blaster in immune system booster ..... It helps to reduce inflammation that comes along with allergies.
I would give 1 1/2 wafers of NuVET per day all season - In the winter - cut down to just 1 NuVET per day. NuVET is not sold in stores**** ONLY here at this link or thru some Holistic Vet offcies:
order here ( 20.00; 39.00 and 55.00 bottles of this Wafer Treat / NuVET Plus)
http://www.nuvet.com/81098
( Again, NuVET helps to keep away the FLEAS ----- a big plus this time of year)

3. ESTER C - you can get this at Walgreens or CVS - give (1) 250 mg daily - long term...
JUST for the Spring and Summer - daily.
Hide in some cheese or a Pill pocket wrap ( PILL Pockets are sold at most pet stores)
Ester C is for Humans but pets can take it, too
