QuestionShe has changed her habits just recently so I know she is not feeling well. The xanthoma is located on her rear and it is getting very large and possibly weighing her down. Today I have noticed that her xanthoma has a vein running through it and I am afraid it will rupture. Should I consider putting her to sleep? Is there a risk of it rupturing and her suffering all the more? Also, are there any alternative ways medically to help soothe her or even heal her. I have been feeding her sea kelp since I have read that iodine is important in her condition. Thank you kindly.
AnswerHi Sara - so sorry about your little Tiny. I have never had a pet with a xanthoma of that size. Has your vet offered steroid treatments at all? Also, I tied to do some research for you but found very little on canine xanthomas.
You can always bring Tiny into another VET for a second opinion. So sorry but I just don't know much about this .... wish I could help.
All the BEST to you and Tiny.
You may want to go over to our VET section and ask them this question:
