Transfer my pet from India to US

Hi

I would like to get my 3.5 year old lahapso cross breed from Hyderabad, India to VA, USA. I understand that the best way to get the pet to US is along with the checked in baggage. But, if I have to transfer my pet through cargo, what would be the procedure like? How much would it cost? Is there anything which I have to specially take care of him?

Yes, it is best to bring dog with you as excess baggage.  Much
cheaper and dog would clear customs with you here at Washington
Dulles.  The airline would take care of the transfers.
Your best bet is Lufthansa via Frankfurt, and 2nd choice KLM via
Amsterdam.  The Passenger reservation people of the airline will
advise you what you need and the charges.
If you can not bring with you, then, contact these same two airlines
cargo office in Hyderabad.  They will advise you as to costs, etc
As cargo, the charges will be based upon size of kennel.
To enter USA, all you need is a health cert issued within 10 days of
flight, and a valid rabies vaccination.
