Question
We just adopted an adult cat from the pound yesterday. Before we took him home they gave him shots and a micro chip in his back. I took him hime and a few hours later he started drooling alot. He is still doing the same this morning. I am wondering if this is a reaction to the shots or the chip placement. Thank You

Answer
Loreli,
I commend you on choosing to not only open your home to his cat in need, but your heart as well. It is unfortunate that there are so many cats and dogs in this situation,. I am happy to hear that at least this cat has found a loving home and caring owner. It is quiet possible that he is having a reaction to the vaccinations he received before he was dismissed from the shelter. Additionally, many shelters will apply a topical insecticide and or will administer a wormer to any animals scheduled to be placed with their new families. These can be causing an allergic reaction as well.
Finally the drooling can be the result of his car ride to his new home and the stress of his new environment, however it is best to be safe than sorry, and I recommend you contact the shelter and address your concerns. If you have a regular veterinarian chosen than, look to contact him and schedule an appointment to have him examined.
I hope I have been able to reach you in a fair amount of time and you will be able to contact either the shelter or you veterinarian as soon as possible. Please feel free to contract me with any additional questions or concerns.
