travelling in and out of Istanbul, Turkey

Question
We're Canadians living in Istanbul and want to travel with our two dogs that we purchased here in Turkey.  We travel back and forth from Canada each year, especially each June - August.  What paper work and other requirements do I need to have to do this?  I know that it would be best not to travel via UK, however what about other European countries?  My dogs are little and have all their vaccines up to date, even their rabies shots done in December.  Thanks. D

Answer
Sorry.  I just do not understand your question..... Are you going back and forth JUST to Canada
and Turkey?  Are you planning to travel overroad thruout Europe?  Just what?
You can indeed transit UK by air with no problem.  Only that pets MUST travel ONLY as cargo thru
UK.  If you want to spend some time in the rest of the EU:  need microchip   health cert
AND, you will need blood titre test while in Turkey, and then wait 3 mos before travel, as Turkey
is NOT a member of EU.  You can air transit most of EU going to and from Canada without problem.
However, some EU countries may still want you to meet EU requirements.  This is why I have
links to DEFRA and the EU on my website so by reading these items, should explain what you need
to do.....
For the entry just to Canada, you should only need health cert issued within 10 days of travel
and a valid rabies vac.  Before you leave Turkey, find out just what they want for return....
If you plan to travel around EU many times, you may want to invest into getting EU pet passport
from an EU veterinarian, maybe in Greece, or elsewhere.  I am not sure if you will be allowed
to enter and leave Turkey anytime you wish to revisit EU.  Best to get all this info from some
EU authority.
