moving cat to Dominican Republic from US and back again in two years

Question
I am from the US and have taken a job in the Dominican Republic.  I would like to take my cat with me.  It seems that getting her there will not be much of a problem, based on what I have read, but how difficult will it be to take her back with me for trips back home in the US and back when I decide to move back permanently?  Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hi Ellen,

Thanks for your inquiry!  It is very simple to take your cat to the Dominican Republic with you.  All that is required is a 7001 International Health Certificate issued by your vet within 10 days of the flight and endorsed by the state USDA office (for office locations,g go here:  http://www.aphis.usda.gov/animal_health/area_offices/) and a current rabies vaccination that is at least 30 days old but within 1 year old.

To come back to the US, you will just need to have a health certificate issued for the flight and a current rabies vaccination.

Happy travels!
