Question
QUESTION: Hi. My mollies start swimming sideways, swim on the gravel, dragging their heads in it, stay at the bottom of the tank, and a few minutes later, they die. Spot, Spot2, and now Torchic is about to die. What is wrong with them? I keep their temperature 78 degrees, put 2 tablespoons of salt for 10 gallons, and feed them 3 small meals a day. Also, Torchic is REALLY fat. She had ich a week ago 2 times. Spot and Spot2 were males.

ANSWER: they could have ick, it makes them itchy and they sometimes rub against stones etc... have you tested your ammonia and pH?

Torchic could be pregnant if she is really fat

QUESTION: I don't have a test kit. Another thing: she started flipping onto her back, swam like that, then died. I don't get it. She was fine on Wednesday. I used the salt and the medication so I don't think it was ich. Could she have had swim bladder disease? I tried looking all over the place and that was all I could find. Can mollies eat cooked peas?

Answer
yeah it could be swim bladder disease but best to have your water tested...you can take a sample to the petstore and they should test it for free.

also yeah they can eat garden pea's and take off the shells before you feed it too them =] garden peas are good for them, good thinking =]

also you could give them scalded lettuce leaves, boil some water and when boiled drop the leaves into it for 10 secinds just to soften them, then weight them down in the tank as they will float.

another thing is cucumber but only a little bit because sometimes there not too fond of that.
