Question
Hello,
I would like to
own a Nanday conure
soon. Can you please give
me information about them
in your own experience?
Like what they should be
fed, How big of a cage they
need, how long they live and
any other things.
Thank you,
Susan.

Answer
Here are the short and simple answers to your questions... however I'm including a list of wonderful conure-related websites to help you even further! :)

1) All parrots should be fed a wide variety of foods. My avian vet recomends 25% pellets, 25% non-sugar cereal, 25% seed and 25% veggies... however the exact proportions are much debated over. I know many people who feel that you should feed 50% pellets and 50% other health, bird-safe human foods. But... as long as you feed your bird a base of pellets (not seed) and offer a wide variety of other foods.. you should be good. :)

2) The cage for a Nanday conure should be at least 22 inches wide by 22 inches deep by 24 inches high. That would be a good size cage for a nanday, but even bigger would always be better! :)

3) Nanday conures can live to be 30 to 35 years of age if properly cared for (and assuming that they have good genes, no major health problems, etc... etc...)
