West Nile Virus ???

Question
I have two young Parakeets.  I've had them both for about 6 months.  They have both been doing great and get along very well ..... until today.  I went to get them out of their cage and one of them was laying on the bottom of his cage .... stumbling.  Having problems walking and even standing up.  I dont know what could be wrong with him, unless possibly West Nile Virus.  I normally take their cage outside for about an hour every 2 or 3 days while I'm cleaning(to avoid them from inhaling any of the cleaning chemicals).  I take their cage outside later in the day when it isn't as hot out and they are always in the shade.  I called the public health dept. today and the man seemed very unconcerned and said he doesn't believe it's West Nile Virus because they wouldn't have had time to get West Nile Virus ?  I dont know what else it could be or what I can do to help my bird.  Any idea's ?

Answer
Hello Jenni,

Well I don't think it is West Nile Virus. The bird may sick, or hit it's head. I would think the birds fought, unless there is blood, ruffled feathers, plucked feathers, or abnormal squacking. Maybe you should call the vet, and make an appointment, or just wait and see how he is tomorrow. Good luck.
