Question
Do I need to remove a parrot (macaw) from the house if I am painting with a latex paint in another room? The bird is not in the same room being painted.
How safe is it to leave the birds in the house when any rooms are being painted?

Answer
If you move the birds to the opposite end of the house and seal off the doorway with a tarp and blankets under the doorway, your birds should be safe. Once the room is painted, it will be essential that you keep the windows all open and such and remember that the smell could still be deadly to your feathered kids for 3 to 4 days after wards.

I would recomend calling your avian vet to find out if it would be better for you to board them outside of your home or not during this time. And for how many days you will need to take precautions to keep your birds safe.

I hope this helps.
