QuestionA sparrow built a nest on an eve under our patio cover which is not solid when it started to rain I put a plastic sheet on top of the cover to keep the nest dry. I thought I was doing a good thing but the babies and the mother are all gone they must have flown away. Will they comeback? Should I have left them alone?
AnswerIf the babies were old enough to leave the nest, then all is well. They were probably ready to go. They will not return. I think everything is ok. Generally, the best thing to do is leave nature take its course. Birds know how to handle the rain. But I don't think you hurt anything.
