Eating problem

Question
We've had our parakeet, Petrie, for a couple years now. But he hasn't been eating his regular (vege-blend)bird seed for almost a week now. I've tried changing to a different food, but he still hasn't eaten. He does still love the spray millets I give him though?(once a week usually, but more often this week since that's all he seems to eat.?) He seems to be drinking his water too, but do you have any idea why he's not eating his regular food? I'd appreciate any help you can give us! Thank you!

Answer
Hello Michelle and thank you for your question,

Spray millet is very high in fat and should not be given more then once a week if that. Perhaps something in the food you've been buying for the past few years has changed recinitly? Or maybe its by chance passed its expary date or something along those lines. Try offering a different food blend, if he wont eat this I reccomend taking him to a vet. Don't let him go for more then 2/3 days longer without eating his regualr diet as he may have an unseen illness and needs to go to the vets. Also maybe someone he loved has moved out/gone away or is spending much more time at work lately? this could cause a change in eating habits as well.

Sorry I couldnt be of more help but it isnt really my area(I'm not a vet), if i can help you with anything else however feel fee to ask.
