i have a nesting box in there cage but i had to close it off bc the side piece broke and they would be able to fly out. but i was wondering if they had eggs where would she nest them because the bottom of the cage is wired, and any egg would fall through the wiring place. so i need to no what to put on the bottem of the cage, if anything. here is a picture of there cage....

Answer
Hi Tiffany,
I am going to give you a little info a some tough love at the same time.
Please bare with me as I do not mean to be rude, but this info must be given to you.

First: The cage is an ok size for 2 budgies, BUT you have absolutely NO toys in the cage? Please add some toys, bells, swings, activities. These birds are not just decorations, they are intelligent creatures we shove in cages, at least entertain them.

Next: Diet: I am hoping you are offering fresh foods daily, meaning veggies, grains, and fruits. Please investigate what is safe for the birds to eat that is not just seed.

Your cage issue. I would just remove the wire all together. Some of my cages do not have the grate at the bottom. She will not nest them, you will need to move them back into the box, or just let them pass away.
