Question
Is a Finnhorse suitable to be the first own horse? What gender, how old, how well trained should the horse be?

Answer
I've never heard of a Finnhorse before but I cant judge a horse by it's breed. You shouldnt look at the breed itself and ask if this breed is right for me....you should look at the individual horse. For a beginner I would say that you should get a calm gelding. When mares come into season (or heat) they sometimes get grumpy and a stallion should not be a choice for a beginner. So that leaves a gelding. You should go with a older horse....one that has been there and done that. You should look for the most trainest horse you can find in your price range. Good luck on horse shopping!!
