light guards and lighting

Hi Eric, do you know the best way to biuld a light guard as my snake keeps hitting it and i am very worried for him.  Also I have a heat mat placed outside and underneath the tank and a heat rock inside the tank, so am I ok using a spotlight to give him light  12 hours a day instead of a heat lamp he is a albino king and 11 years old.  thank you for your help eric

Hello Carolanne,

You would be fine with just using a florescent light placed on top the tank. You do not need the heat lamp. If you are having problems with heat loss place a piece of plastic the same width but 2/3 the length. This will help with heat as well as humidity.
