Question
I have a pittbull who had seven puppies 4 and 1/2 weeks ago. She stopped feeding them and no longer wants to be with them. They are eating food on their own. Is their anything else I need to do for them? Also, I noticed today that the mother is bleeding now(dark color blood). Is this normal? She can't go into heat that soon, can she?

Answer
Hi. At this age you'll want to worm them if you haven't already. Worm mom, too. Just keep them in a clean place, and socialize them a lot. No, she wouldn't be in heat this soon. Keep a good eye on the bleeding. If it doesn't let up in a day or two, or has a foul smell, or if mom acts off in any way, get her to the vet. Good luck!
