Question
I have a Yorkie, 3yrs old, she's in labor! She had 1 about 2 hours ago. The pup looks to be in good condition and is feeding off her already. From time to time she still looks like she's pushing but only for a bit. Then stops. I did not get an x-ray (wish I had now) and would like to know can I tell if there are more to come?? Can't relax until I know she's done. I THINK the placenta came out already. Took a bit but I think it did. It was a pup size glassy looking very dark "bubble". She went to lick and then it was gone! I hope it wasn't a pup! This is the first time I go thru this. Please, any help will help!!!!

Answer
Hopefully she has done something by now. If she was done whelping, she would be laid out on her side, relaxed, not panting, not curled up. You can gently palpate her belly to see if you feel anymore puppies. My best advice here would be to take her to the vet for a clen out shot to make sure everything is out. If something if left inside of her, it can cause a serious infection and even death. It sounds like your girl still has a bit to go, and if she hasn't had any more, then I would get her to the vet fast. Good luck.
