Boxer dog in labor (I think)

Question
Hello, I have emailed you before, and I need your help again.  Yesterday at 7:30 a.m., my dog started panting really heavy and nesting off and on through out the day. Today she is 63 days pregnant. Her temperature the night before on the 5th was down to 98.5, then yesterday morning on the 6th it stayed at 97.5 through now and I took it again and it is back up to 98.5 still no puppies.  She is still nesting and I also noticed her leaking what I think is urine because it is yellowish.  She has really heavy stages of panting then calms down and starts again.  She hasn't eaten anything since the night of the 5th.  She has had some water though.  She doesn't want food.  I guess my question would be do you think she is in labor and if so should we see puppies anytime soon?  How long do dogs stay in labor?  She doesn't seem to be in any pain at all, she does refuse to leave her whelping box she has been in there except to go out to the bathroom since yesterday morning the 6th at 7:30.  Hope to hear from you soon.  Thanks so much.

Answer
Hi Tara. She still hasn't done anything yet? The heavy panting and digging is definitely signs of labor. Some dogs do this for about 24 hours or so before starting to whelp. If she doesn't do anything tonight, I'd call the vet first thing in the morning. This part of labor can last for a while. If she starts to push, and doesn't produce a puppy within 15 minutes, call the vet. If you see a colored discharge before the birth of the first puppy, call the vet. Besides that, you'll have to be patient.:-) If I can help with anything else, let me know! And please let me know how it goes. P.S. The panting and nesting can last for about 24 hours or so. The actual whelping can take hours. I've seen dogs actually take a full 24 hours to whelp a whole litter. That's not including the nesting and such, that's from the birth of the first pup, to the last. Get some sleep!:-)
