ivermectin - mouth sores

Question
We were given Ivermectin for our beagle mix to treat mites.  Soon after, Ringo, had mouth sores on his lips.  They look like huge canker sores.  The vet does not think the reaction is from Ivermectin.  What do you recommend to get rid of the sores?  We will continue with Ivermectin until the 30 day treatment is up.

That sounds like an allergy. I wonder if they are allergic to the Ivermetctin?  Surely your Vet would have said so, if that were the case.  I wouldn't want to tell you what to give since it is on the mouth and could be swallowed by your dogs. This is something your Vet should prescribe. I wouldn't want to poison your dog!  
I have not heard of treating mites with Ivermectin. Are these ear mites we are talking about?  Ivermectin is used to treat heartworms.  I just want to make sure we are talking about the same drug.
Sorry, I know I am not much help, but I would be very leery suggesting anything to be put on the mouth since it could be ingested.
