Crate Training a 3 yr old female pitt

Question
I just adopted a 3 yr old female pitt a week and a half ago.  She never was crate trained and I'm trying to crate train her but she absolutely hates the crates.  I put her in her metal crate today when I went to work.. I came home on my lunch break and she escaped and damaged the crate.  I can't afford to keep buying a crate everytime she breaks one..What should I do?

Answer
dog that has not been crated since it was little, may take some work. Start out just putting its toys and treats in the crate. Praise it for going in. Feed it in the crate. This is also an easy way to maintain order at feeding time for more than one dog.

Try a Kong filled with peanut butter and frozen.

You could also try a tie down.  Secure a short length of chain with a snap on the other end.  some dogs will torerate it better than a crate.
