lazy dog

Hi I have a 10 year old shitzu about 3 yrs ago he had to have surgery on his spin he recovered great but I've notice that he has been extremely lazy lately all he wants to do is eat and sleep is that part of him getting older or should I be concerned?

That could be a sign of hypothyroidism,and it is easy to diagnose with a simple blood test and also the medication is cheap,but they do have to stay on it for life,so it won't hurt to get him tested for that,as it is one of the most common problem in older dogs

It could also be old age as dogs like people slow down as they get older-but it won't hurt to look for hypothyroidism
