My dog freaks out in his kennel!

Question
Hello,
I have a one year old Boxer/Shepherd mix male dog. I have had him since 8 weeks old. I made the mistake of not kennel training him from the start. I had a roommate who lived with me and we each got one of the puppies from the same litter. They were never left alone. She worked nights, i worked mornings, so the two puppies constantly had each other or one of us as company. Well at about 4 months old my roommate and her puppy moved. So I have tried everything at this point. I've tried leaving him out of the kennel and letting him roam free and he ruins everything, so that is no longer an option. So at about 11 months old i started kenneling him. He hates it, he shakes when i go to put him in there, he drools non stop to where there are puddles of saliva and he is even soaked. He is never left any longer than 8 hours in there. I walk him every night, and we have a fenced in yard where he is welcome to run when ever we are home. Is this something he will grow out of, or should i be concerned? I feel bad putting him in there but ive run out of options? Any suggestions?

Answer
I think he might do better if he got a mid daybreak.  I don't have too much to back it except it is what I have always done.  See if a neighbor or professional dog walker can do it.  You could also look into doggy day care.

I can't say if he will eventually tolerate it or not.
